United Methodist Church No Longer Pro-Choice
On Friday we reported that the United Methodist Church General Conference had voted to sever the denomination's relationship with pro-choice organizations. Apparently the change is even bigger than that. In 1976 the UMC formally adopted a pro-choice position called Responsible Parenting, which it has maintained for 40 years - until now.
In a 445 to 310 vote, Methodist Church representatives voted to suspend support for Responsible Parenting thus overturning the UMC's 40-year old pro-choice position.
A victory indeed. Praise God!
Now if they would just endorse a biblical, common sense marriage definition.
