Goofing around
Philippians 1:18b-24
Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.
Interesting that Paul wanted what Christ wanted. There was work that Jesus had for him and he was willing to do it (Eph 2:10).
I confess that often I am less interested and less passionate about telling a lost world about the hope that I have, than I am about taking the easy way out and to "depart". Not the great heart of a servant, especially in light of all He has done, is doing and will do.
To that end I was playing with some numbers. This is really really nothing, but thought I would share anyway. Guess I'6m bored and not focused on the mission.
Here goes:
Tomorrow will be exactly 11 weeks until the Jewish New Year - Rosh Hashanna and The Feast of Trumpets. 77 days to be exact.
On a Jewish calendar the New Year begins on Thursday September 29th. A Jewish Thursday actually begins at 6pm on Wednesday.
Israel is 8 hours ahead of us, so on Wednesday September 28th at 10am CT, the Jewish New Year will begin in Jerusalem.
Tomorrow 7/13/2011 at 10am CT will be exactly 11 weeks - 77 days -
At 6:08:54 am CT tomorrow it will be exactly 6,666,666 seconds until the Hebrew New Year.
Is that important, no almost certainly it is not.
Just interesting that this year's New Year will be 63 years after May 14th, 1948. Add 7 to that and you have 70.
I believe the rapture is on Rosh Hashanna (see previous posts on Jesus' fulfillment of certain Holidays). Of course not with the certainty of my belief in John 3:16, Romans 8, Ephesians 2, James 2 or one of the other foundations of our faith, but I feel reasonably certain that this makes sense.
I suppose He will come like a "thief in the night", perhaps during "the 4th watch of the night".
Every year at this time, I get to thinking of home. Actually given all the bewildering trouble in this world, I am thinking of our ransom almost constantly.
How about you?

something tells me i'd better activate my prayer capsule. greg, this is beyond,... and far surpasses the bounds of most mens weak imaginations. Great Day in the mornin'! Why i'll be John Brown!! We're fixin' to go up! have you ever listened to 1972 Genesis album, FOXTROT? the song "SUPPERS READY" is 23 mins. long about the marriage supper of the Lamb!! it's incredible with Peter Gabriel and the old Genesis band. its life changing / Victoriously Powerful and inspiringly symbolic. i love all your posts, thanks, tony in vt. for now, we are counting out time,...waitin' on the Lord...what a thing to believe...but the signs are all around, if we will but preceive....the day of judgements coming, and you can bet that i've been resting for this testing,...digesting all the words the scriptures say!!///soon we will be in His Holy presence. blessings Greg
ReplyDeleteTony,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your encouragement. I'm going to go and listen to that song.
I am thinking more and more about the wedding supper.
These feasts were normally 7 days. The tribulation is the 70th week (7 years). I believe we will celebrate with Christ for 7 years!!
I can almost smell dinner cooking, see the bustle of activity, see the flower arrangements, the wine, the bread and the relationships.
I'm ready. Wonder what God's thinking about today.

ReplyDeleteWonder what God will be thinking at the wedding feast?
What do you think?
