Thou preparest a table before me, in the presence of mine enemies
Psalm 23:5 (NASB)
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
Luke 12:37 (NASB)
Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them.
Luke 16:20-21 (NASB)
And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores.
Luke 22:14-15 (NASB)
The Lord’s Supper
When the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him. And He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;
Luke 22:26-27 (NASB)
But it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant. For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.
Mark 14:3 (NASB)
While He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper, and reclining at the table, there came a woman with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume of pure nard; and she broke the vial and poured it over His head.
Romans 11:9 (NASB)
And David says,
“LET THEIR TABLE BECOME A SNARE AND A TRAP,
AND A STUMBLING BLOCK AND A RETRIBUTION TO THEM.
Zechariah 12:10 (NASB)
“I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.
Psalm 110:1 (NASB)
The LORD Gives Dominion to the King.
A Psalm of David.
The LORD says to my Lord:
“Sit at My right hand
Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”
1 Thessalonians 4:13-19 (NASB)
Those Who Died in Christ
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Revelation 19:9 (NASB)
Then he *said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he *said to me, “These are true words of God.”
Luke 14:15 (NASB)
When one of those who were reclining at the table with Him heard this, he said to Him, “Blessed is everyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!”
Matthew 22:2 (NASB)
"The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son.
-- Jesus - born in "Bethle-hem or "bread house" or "house of bread", will come and have His angels catch us up "harpazo" or "rapture" us up to meet Him in the air, to dine at the wedding feast of the lamb, with our enemies at our feet, in the presence of our enemies and they will look on the one they have pierced and weep.
Not sure I have accurately strung that last sentence together.
Be a Berean:
Acts 17:11 (NASB)
Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
I expect there will be laughter at the wedding feast. I expect the feast may take years and that there will be so much reconnecting, so much healing, so much joy and God himself will wipe away every tear.
Lots of bread and wine. The Bread of Life will be there.
Who knows - would be fun don't you think?
He is able to do more than you can ask or imagine.
Jesus' first miracle - water to wine at a wedding feast. It was the first bookend to His work to redeem His people. I expect a wedding feast as He book ends the closure of the time of the Gentiles at the wedding feast of the lamb. God be praised. He appoints every detail with beauty, color and perfection.
He's got every detail of your life as well. He is weaving a masterful tapestry. We will only see our part in it later. Then we will know how every pain and trial were used to color us perfectly and fit us together perfectly into His kingdom.
Ephesians 4:15-16 (NASB)
but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
-- I think maybe just maybe the bread is in the oven, ice is being put in the glasses, candles are being lit, the lamb is ready, your relatives are cutting the flowers for the center pieces and He is right at the door.
Breathe deeply, laugh fully, relax completely - we're going home - our present sufferings are not worth comparing - be filled with Him, be overwhelmed with gratitude that you are to escape the coming judgement and in your overflowing joy tell someone - right now - today - quickly - urgently.
The day is closing.
