Severe winters

We've said this before, but as sleet hits my Texas home a week before spring break...

Luke 21:11 (NASB)

and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.

- The Syriac version of the Bible from the eastern orthodox church (not the septuagint translation, used by those of us in the West - KJV, NIV, NASB, NLT) adds this:

 "and great winters there shall be"; that is, very long and cold.  The Persian version, "and winter, and cold, shall be protracted". 

Humm.....
