The White Throne Judgement
Thinking a lot about how uncomfortable life on this planet is becoming.
In the West we've had it pretty easy. Much of the world has been very uncomfortable for a long time. I read an article recently about the top 50 most dangerous countries for Christians. These were largely from Algeria to Saudi Arabia and from Turkey to Iran.
Not to mention China, the new persecution in Russia and the growing hostility in the West.
It seems to me this has become the majority worldview.
With the "tolerance" movement (meaning anything goes except an instance of moral order), the moral breakdown, lawlessness, ecological disaster, economic collapse, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, typhoons, volcanoes, meteors, wars, rumors of wars, nuke threats, persecution, digital privacy invasion, DNA altering, globalization, Israel surrounded, missile attacks on Israel, terrorism, murder, hopelessness, tension, corruption, prejudice, sex slavery, child abuse, pornography, drug abuse, vast numbers of the citizenry incarcerated, unemployment and the impossibility of political solution, exponential population explosion, drought, fire, pestilence, GMO, cancer and the continued rampant collapse of the family and marriage, and abortion - this planet is becoming much less habitable.
Thinking about Revelation 12 and the woman who gives birth. It's almost like the earth is giving birth to the church by ejecting us from the planet.
Similarly at the end of the 1,000 years those who died in their sin will be raptured from the grave or the planet to meet the Lord at the white throne judgment. The standard for entry into heaven is pure perfection. Everyone who was not sealed in Christ will be judged on their own inadequate failing merit. None is found sufficient and all are moved into the only place left for them. A place reserved that is void of all vestiges of God (much like what the world says they want now). God is light. There is no light there. God is good. There is no goodness there. God is love. There is no love there. God is merciful. There is no mercy there. God is purposeful. There is no purpose there. God is hope. There is no hope there. God is beauty. There is no beauty there. God is relational. There is no relationship there. God is unity. There is no unity there. God is peace. There is no peace there. God is healing. There is no healing there. God is patient. There is no patience there. God is gentle. There is no gentleness there. God is faithful. There is no faithfulness there. God is joy. There is no joy there. God is self-control. There is no self-control there.
From Revelation 20:
The Judgment of the Dead
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
When these condemned are standing up the earth and heavens disappear from under their feet. There is no longer any place for them
The only place left is the abyss. A place void of God. These will receive what they wanted.
I wonder why God is still allowing history to drag even longer than it already is
ReplyDeleteI know it's a rhetorical question and everything, but it's worth reminding ourselves from time to time of the answer:
ReplyDelete"The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." (2 Peter 3:9 ESV)
We who study end-time prophecy and endeavor to warn others of the nearness of the hour of its fulfilment need to step back and pinch ourselves once in a while and remember that God, first and foremost, has a heart to save people. Yes, His judgment is sure and *cannot* be delayed much longer, but God in His infinite mercy and grace still wants to save men. I have trained myself to recall this verse when I catch myself asking the same question you asked. It seems to help.
