EARTHQUAKE HITS CENTRAL ITALY: Entire Towns Leveled, Rome Shaken, At Least 247 Dead
UPDATE: The death toll has surpassed 247.
An earthquake of 6.2 magnitude has hit central Italy, not far from Rome. Because of the earthquake's shallow depth there was widespread destruction with towns such as Amatrice completely leveled. The death toll is at 73 and rising as rescue workers desperately try to reach hundreds, perhaps thousands who are buried in rubble.
