Pray For Revival - Day 4
Heavenly Father, we cry out today beseeching you to open the windows of
heaven and send revival to Your people in America. We ask for a fresh
touch from Your sovereign hand. “Oh, that You would rend the heavens and
come down, that the mountains might quake at Your presence.” We pray
that You will give every Christian a fresh burden to pray fervently for
revival. We pray that we will take no rest for ourselves, and we will give
You no rest until You establish and make Your people and the churches in
America a praise in all the earth.
We confess that we are indeed a wicked nation. We have scorned Your Word, broken Your commandments, and defiled Your holy name. Too often we Americans have sullied and dishonored Your name, disrespecting it by using it with words of cursing. Our foul language has produced curses rather than blessings. We have sown bad seed with filthy speech and reaped a harvest of spiritual decadence. Have mercy on us, O Lord.
We are also a very immoral nation, Heavenly Father. Many if not most Americans have forgotten Your holy commandments to refrain from sins of sexual immorality. Many are guilty of fornication, being sexually active before they are married. Many commit adultery, being sexually active with someone other than their spouse. Many others commit “unnatural, gross immorality” of homosexuality and lesbianism. Many are also involved in pornography, which is simply, “published sexual immorality.” Forgive us also for the atrocity of human sex trafficking. Many Americans are also cohabitating, living together and being intimate without being married. Many others get divorced for non-Biblical reasons, severing families. For all of our sexual sins, we repent. Have mercy on us, O Lord.
Holy Father, America’s soil is stained with the blood of African slaves that were treated horrifically from the earliest days of our nation until the end of the Civil War. They were separated, sold, beaten, tortured, and killed, being treated worse than animals. For these atrocities committed by our forefathers, we sincerely beg for Your forgiveness and mercy, O Lord.
We also confess that our American soil is stained with the blood of NativeAmericans that were slaughtered by U.S troops sent westward after the Civil War. Those Native-Americans were exterminated and butchered, all in the name of expansion and progress. Forgive us, we beg You, O Lord.
And now, in our own lifetime, America’s soil is once again being soaked by the blood that is shed each day as we kill unborn babies via abortion. Sinister organizations such as Planned Parenthood have the audacity to even sell the precious body parts of those children after they are murdered in their mother’s womb. Our government also forces us to help fund these barbaric practices by supporting Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers with millions of our tax dollars. Lord, You have told us that each of us is “fearfully and wonderfully made” in our mother’s womb. Yet we continue abusing unborn children, denying them any right to life. We confess that we have killed over 50 million unborn babies since the legalization of abortion in 1973. Reverse the insidious ruling of the Supreme Court of the United States that legalized this atrocity, and stop abortion in America, O Lord.
We also pray that You will have mercy and revive our dead and dying churches in America, O God. We confess that we have forsaken Your call to make every church “a house of prayer.” Too often, our worship services have been little more than a religious “show.” Our preachers have failed to preach the Word of God and the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have allowed liberal theology to enter too many of our seminaries and churches, causing many denominations to embrace doctrines of demons that cause us to be little more than social organizations and religious country clubs. The blood of millions of lost Americans is on our hands because we have failed to share the Gospel with them. Forgive us for our dead, man-centered “worship services.” Please send Your fire from heaven on our desolate churches. Raise up a new generation of preachers, evangelists and worship leaders that will bring us back to You and Your ways. Send revival, O God.
Lord, You have sent revival to America before. Please do it again! Hear our cries of desperation. Our nation is in a downward spiral of immorality and debauchery. Too often, we have put our trust in money rather than in You. O God, have mercy on us, Your people – Christians. We need Your presence in our churches once again. Fill the house of God with glory of God! May we, Your people, called by Your name, humble ourselves and pray, and seek Your face and turn from our wicked ways. We pray that when we do, You will graciously hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land. Do this and even more, we pray. Send revival, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
