Supreme Court Reinstates Trump's Travel Ban
In a major political victory for the Trump Administration, the Supreme Court has overruled the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and reinstated most aspects of the Trump Administration's travel ban that prohibited most travel from six Muslim-majority nations.
The decision has also revealed that the court's newest member, Justice Neil Gorsuch, appears to be following in Antonin Scalia's footsteps. He sided with Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito in wanting to take the decision a step further by having the travel ban fully reinstated in order for it to become enforceable immediately.
In another decision, SCOTUS has ruled in favor of school choice and religious freedom when it ruled that the State of Missouri had violated the rights of Trinity Lutheran Church's preschool by withholding state funding. The decision was 7 to 2 with Gorsuch in the majority. Interestingly, Gorsuch joined with Thomas in what appears to be an indication they wanted a broader and more conservative application of the decision - further indicating that Gorsuch was a solid pick.
