A Pentecost Windstorm

Yesterday, on Pentecost Sunday, a historic windstorm blew through the Dallas area, killing at least one, and critically injuring several others.  Significant damage was reported across the whole north part of Dallas and its suburbs.  Trees and signs are covering roads, power lines are down, roofs are gone, and some 300,000 residents are without power.  There is also extensive flooding in the area.  The area gets frequent tornadoes, which cause destruction along a specific path, but such a massive windstorm causing damage across the whole area is much more unusual.  It is being likened to a tropical cyclone or Category 1 hurricane hitting an inland city, hundreds of miles from the nearest coast.  Unusual, to say the least.

Here is an incredible photo of a similar storm that descended on Dallas exactly two years prior, on June 9, 2017:

And, as mentioned at the first, this happened right on Pentecost Sunday.  The Festival of Shavuot.

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.  Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
- Acts 2:1–2

When the Church began some 2,000 years ago, it started with the sound of a violent wind rushing down out of the sky.  Then the gathered disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit (baptized).  Thus the Church was conceived.  We see yet another sign pointing to the conclusion of this period of history.

An interesting side note: Israel's calling code is 972.  The Dallas area code is 972.  Also, Dallas and Israel share the same latitude.

There have been over 500 confirmed tornadoes in the United States in just the last 30 days, and a 40 year record has just been set for the number of tornadoes in the past week and a half.  Towns have been devastated across the country.

Also yesterday on Pentecost, on the other side of the world, there was a huge volcanic eruption (credit to Brother Paul for spotting this):

From Paul:

This happened on Pentecost.

It was on Pentecost when Peter quoted the prophet Joel who wrote the Word of the LORD:

Act 2:19 - And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke.

Joel 2:30 - And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

THE DAY OF THE LORD IS COMING.

  1. It blew through Oklahoma City too. I stood at the window watching as the winds hit and I’ve never seen winds like that before. Then we got 3 inches of rain in a 20 minute period. It’s everywhere. Crazy weather all over the world. God is screaming at us to wake up!

    1. Wow! Thanks for sharing that. I wasn't aware that it hit that far north, as well. I'm glad you're ok. We had several different friends whose homes were hit.

I'm still amazed that a massive, possibly historic, windstorm hit on PENTECOST.

  8. I must admit I am disappointed that we weren't raptured on Pentecost. The wind storm is interesting, but not as much as I was hoping for. I had read so much about the ways that a Pentecost rapture would be a good fit, and I don't like the idea of waiting until May of 2020 for the next shot at it.

That said, I was thinking about the timing of the rapture. If it is indeed a type of birth, and we are the body of Christ, then we should see some parallels in the birth of Christ. After all, shouldn't the head and the body be born the same day? That raises the question of when exactly Jesus was born. If you search the internet you will find all sorts of theories and many people promote their theories with dogmatic certainty. However, it's very interesting that the gospel writers fail to mention any Jewish festival in association with his birth, yet all four of them point out that his death and resurrection happened at Passover. If Jesus had been born on a Jewish feast day, wouldn't at least one of the gospel writers have found that to be a significant detail to record? If Mary was the source of information for the birth narratives, wouldn't she, a devout Jew, have told Matthew or Luke that Jesus was born on Tabernacles, or Passover, or Hanukkah, or whatever? The fact that the gospels are silent on the timing might mean that it wasn't a feast. Maybe it really was an ordinary day. We can't be certain, but it leaves open the possibility in my mind.

So I find it interesting that, in spite of our December 25 observance of the Birth of Christ, no one really knows when he was born. Perhaps similarly, no one really knows when the Church will be born into glory at the rapture. Perhaps it really could be any day...

Summer will be an interesting season though with the peace plan coming out, the fact that judgment on the Jews has often occurred in the summertime, particularly 9 Av, and Jesus lesson about the fig tree telling us we will "know that summer is near". Maybe we will go up on an unexpected summer day in the days/weeks ahead.

    1. Good thoughts. Rick Larson places the birth of Christ in June of 2 BC, probably June 15th, 16th, or 17th, which would be exactly 2020 years, to the day, from this next weekend.

    2. Bruce, as we looked at the gregorian calendar and when Pentecost was scheduled for the 9th, I can understand the disappointment. But we really don't know, think that's why Paul call it a mystery. The thought of immense rings with truth and we just need to live for Christ, and live like him with what time we have left. With all the different theologies in eschatology and everyone a theologian the word is murky. Only way to learn is being in the word. We need to open our Bible and study and pray. It's easy for me to get excited about going home with the Lord, but he has me here for a reason. We need to glorify him and share the grace with others with the Gospel. (Preaching to myself) until he comes, let's be busy doing his business. May you all be blessed in the weeks and months ahead, keeping looking, he is coming at an hour we don't know, that's why we watch.

    3. The sighting of the Bethlehem Star that year is a good indicator. It is easy to find in astronomy software. We used it this past year in our mailer campaign and December sermon series.

I for one am impressed with Rick Larson's work and applaud it. His dating the birth (conception) of Christ as 9/11/3 BC is what I call His "birth". We, today, would call it His conception but as many call Pentecost the "birth" of the Church; many here would call Pentecost the "conception" of the Church.

This is why I try to be specific by using "conception" in relation to Christ's birth. But if for His physical delivery into the world of air breathing humans? Yeah, it looks like Jesus was a June baby! My stellar observations placed it on the evening of 6/17 IIRC.

I can post a screen shot of that observation and the artwork I created for the sermon series if anyone wants.

      Blessings,

Because we have passed the 71st Anniversary of Israel’s replanting and entered the time of its inspection, I too have been looking at all the connections the Feast of Pentecost has with the Rapture; but have you noticed that EVERY feast that requires assembling before the Lord has prophetic foreshadowing of the Rapture connected with it?

  11. In past years I was looking toward a Pentecost RR but the more I dig and study I'm leaning on Yom Teruah per the civil calendar. I would think that the spiritual calendar is the one to be looking at, which it is, but in this case the ecclesiastic calendar offers something different come the Sabbath before Erev Rosh Hashanna (the day before New Year's Eve).

My studies suggest that all three calendars Civil, Ecclesiastic, Gregorian offer a piece of the puzzle. I will be sharing details soon...

    1. I am convinced the Feast Day rapture theory is correct. However since we are all watching for either 1 or 2 of these days with rapt attention, at an "HOUR WE EXPECT" HOW does the following Mth 24:44 repeated Luke 12:40 make sense?: 44 Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. How is this reconciled?

Chernobyl - is the greatest ecological disaster. It happens to be the UKRAINIAN word for WORMWOOD - Chornobyl.

"The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water— the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter." (Rev 8:10–11)

What does it mean to us today? I dont know. I just wish the Raptors win tonight.

  15. I'm not so sure that the 9th of June was Pentecost. Some are saying that the 16th is Pentecost and others are saying we need to count another 50 days. The problem is that people have different opinions on the start of the year, which makes counting and thus knowing what day it is difficult.

Also nobody is able to confirm that we should or shouldn't count another 50 days after Feast of Weeks. The Bible might be clear on that; man's translations made it unclear.

From my calculations Pentecost could (still) happen anywhere between now and September 8 2019. The calendar could be off by 34 days depending on when you start the new year: when the moon was seen close before or after the spring equinox.

    30 days = a month
4 days = closest day to or after the moon was seen

I'm aware that people 'know' when to decide it's a new year, but I think it's better to keep all options open, and avoid trying to rush with dates.

Pentecost on September 8 'it is' for me.

  18. JUPITER, the “King Planet,” will be closer to Earth than at any other time of year during the month of June.

While the solar system’s largest planet will be closest near the middle of the month, one should be able to spot it, along with some of its larger moons, with nothing more than a pair of binoculars as it enters its period of opposition on June 10.

In addition to Jupiter being at its closest distance to Earth, it will appear to meet up with the Full Moon on June 16. Using the Starry Night astronomical program with the viewing location set to Jerusalem, one can see the Moon approach and seemingly touch the King Planet in the Constellation Ophiuchus, the “serpent holder,” or “restrainer,” as darkness settles in around 9:00 pm Sunday evening.

While no one knows the day of the Lord’s return, this heavenly sign is a reminder that the Church in its fullness, symbolized by the full moon, will one day meet her King-Bridegroom in the heavens. With the force that restrains the serpent, the Holy Spirit, removed from earth, the human embodiment of evil Scripture calls the “man of sin” will emerge to take his place on the prophetic stage (2 Thess. 2).

A once-in-history convergence of prophetic signs and timelines suggests this day is near.

That the “King” is nearest to us in June, the month of the Bible’s Harvest Festival, is a reminder that today, before Judgment Day arrives, is the time to seek the Lord.

“Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near” (Isa. 55:6).

      "Acts 1:6-7 (KJV):
6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

Our Lord Jesus said that you must not speculate or practise date-setting, but that you put your faith in practice by caring for those in need of food, clothing and other things.

    4. Moin, please read your scripture excerpt more closely. Jesus did not say that you must not speculate or practise date-setting. What he did do is tell the apostles gathered around him who were expecting the Messiah to usher in an earthly kingdom that it was not for them, i.e. the apostles standing there listening to him, to know the times and seasons. He was right too. They all died long before the time of Christ's return. He did not say that no one would ever have any clues about his return before it happened, and he wasn't talking about the rapture at all. We have to be careful not to say more than the Bible actually says, and all it says is that it was not for the apostles to know when Jesus would restore the Kingdom of Israel, and they didn't.

No He didn't. I would encourage you not to add to Scripture.

"but that you put your faith in practice by caring for those in need of food, clothing and other things."

Of course. This is the age-old argument of "instead of worrying about X, or studying X, just preach the gospel and love others..." Of course we should do those things, but let's be holistic, searching and learning from the whole counsel of God's word and doing all that it calls us to do. Studying prophecy doesn't mean we can't also feed and clothe the poor.

    2. Pastor Rich, blessings to you and you know a great deal. Many of us have learned from your in-depth fascinating research. It was just startling to see that headline, of all things, and the day after Pentecost. Also, raptor being similar to rapturo or Rapture. I have always pondered who Jesus was referring to when He said He will come at a time we are not expecting. Is that for watchers and non-watchers alike ? Even watchers have their minds on work, kids, traffic and get distracted at times. And does it mean if we expect Him on a Jewish Feast Day, then do those days get excluded ? Sometimes I think the Rapture will happen on a regular ordinary day, a nothing special day when we truly wouldn't expect Him. That would explain so many high watch days coming and going and maybe the Feast Days are truly for Jews only. We see through a glass darkly and maybe my glass is darker than most. I would almost believe the Rapture would happen the day after a high watch day. Thank you and Maranatha ! He is coming and that's good enough for me.

    3. I believe that power is in the word of God. I agree with Gary that He is sovereign over all things. By signs He tells of His coming for the Jews. By calendars and timing He tells of His coming for the Gentiles.

As you say, there are two peoples here. Observant and non-observant. Jews/Gentiles and the inhabitants of the earth. We are given to one dominant calendar for the Gentiles (Gregorian) and two for the Jews (Civil and Ecclesiastic). Put all of them together and you get some interesting results. There is an "interlocking" or "juncture" that takes place. This September is an example.

Once you start assembling day counts for Daniel, Matthew and Revelation, based upon the great sign, you get some interesting results. I found one which is on a day I said to myself, "What's that day mean?"

I may have gotten my answer and it is this fall.

But like I said, who am I? What do I know?

Thank you for your kind words or encouragement!

  21. I am a firm believer in the fulfillments of the Jewish feasts. The next feast to be fulfilled is the Feast of Trumpets with the Rapture. My guess is that Jesus brings us home this Feast of Trumpets. I believe just as the scriptures tell us all the major events, some even falling on Jewish significant days are signs pointing us to watch and be ready. For me, and I gather most of you as well, it is staggering how Jesus is warning us the time is near! Even at the door! The watchmens eyes are wide open. We see it! One thing is for certain IT WILL HAPPEN, question is are we ready?are we watching for the bridegroom with our oil lamps full? Are we running out of oil? Have we turned back to get more oil?
Study, watch, read the scriptures, engage with others, spread the good news. Jesus is coming, tell the world, be ready!

For those who do not believe in all, every word,of the God breathed word of the Bible there are other sites out there not the least of which are produced by those of Catholic faith. It's ok to disagree, families often do, but if the topics and comments on this site are too much or go against some of y'all's beliefs I humbly ask that you maybe look to another site. 23. I apologize for a lengthy post, but just some thoughts ...
I think the confusion around Pentecost originates from a lack of understanding of the harvest theme. There are actually three different "crops": barley, wheat, and grape. Each harvest comes in three stages: sewing the seed, main harvest, and gleanings. The part of the crop used in the first fruit wave offering is a part of the main harvest. Crops do not mature at different rates within the same harvest. Look at John 12:24-26, 1 Corinthians 15:42, and Matthew 11:28-30. The cross was Christ's "yoke" of the plow which was used to "plant" his body. Other old testament saints were resurrected after Christ's death. Christ was the gleanings of the barley harvest, not the first fruits of the wheat harvest. The wheat harvest is the Church. The grape harvest isn't complete until the White Throne judgment. Each harvest is really a transformative resurrection. Satan himself will likely be the gleanings of the grape harvest, as he and his angels are cast into the Lake of Fire. There are three "festivals" for each three part harvest. Barley harvest: Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits. Wheat harvest: Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement. Grape harvest: Tabernacles, Shemini Atzeret, Hanukkah. The Church was "planted" on Pentecost. The main harvest of the church occurs on Trumpets. The gleanings of the Church occur on Atonement at the end of Daniel's 70th week with the resurrection of the tribulation saints. To summarize: we must think in agricultural terms, as this is the analogy the scriptures use.

    1. Also, see Matthew 27:51-53.

    2. There is much truth in what you say! This is a classic interpretation and one I share. Take a look at the almond tree, how it fits in Jewish tradition and how it is used in the Temple!

    4. Yes, this is a good interpretation of scripture as Pastor Rich said. Here is a chart to consider from my understanding. BTw, I think we are still in the season of the wheat harvest. Blessings and Maranatha!

----- First Resurrection ------------------ Second Resurrection
Passover | Shavuot | Tabernacles ......| End of Age of Man - 7,000 years
Barley ..| Wheat ..| Sweet Grapes .....| Tares and Sour Grapes
Christ ..| Church .| Rest of Believers | Unbelievers

  24. Hello sisters and brothers in Jesus. Thank you for your excellent site. I would have a question and if someone could answer me, it would be really appreciated. Since the believer in Christ must be ready for the rapture, the heart, the order in his life, the sanctification, and all, what happens if he has financial debts? For example, a house or a car with a lot of payments but without the ability to pay for lack of money, and the only solution would be to bankrupt financially, will that believer stay on the ground at the time removal? As I think it is topical, I ask myself the question, being in trouble with my husband. If so, there will not be many born again believers who will leave. Thank you to inform me according to your way of seeing things. Excuse my bad English because I live in Quebec, Canada and I have to translate everything I read on your site with the Google translator. Same thing to write to you. Yours truly, Carole xx

  25. Carole, being free of debt is not what God requires to be saved. It's not the standard. It's not something we can do for ourselves, otherwise it would be self-salvation. Admit that you are a sinner and need forgiveness. Believe that God's only Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died for your sins (sins past, present and future). Be willing to turn from sin (repent). And confess with your mouth and invite Jesus Christ into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior. Be willing to follow and obey Christ as the Lord of your life.

    1. Thanks to you! I am saved and I have faith in Jesus and his sacrifice since 1988. I speak of the rapture, because many Christians say that for the rapture one must have put order in one's life, sanctification and all. That many believers in Jesus will remain on earth because they are lukewarm, foolish virgins. They are saved but they must repent and put order and they will have to die for their faith during tribulation because they did not follow the Lord before the rapture, but they followed the world. So since the financial debts are a mess, and the Bible says: Rom13: 8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another, I asked myself the question about the kidnapping of indebted believers. I do not put in
      cause their salvation.

  26. Carole, Romans chapters 6 and 10 explains it.

  27. Being poor or having debt is not a sin. In fact, Jesus said it was the rich man that went to hell and the poor man who went to Abraham's bosom. Jesus said it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it was for a rich man to get into Heaven. I don't know anyone who doesn't have bills to pay or who isn't behind on their debts and struggling. Cast your cares onto Him because He cares for you. He has rescued me many times from that situation.

  28. If you have trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior then you will be Raptured before the Tribulation. We won't be perfect until we get to heaven. The unsaved, the ones who rejected the Glorious Gospel of Christ will be left behind and go through the horrors of the Tribulation. Born again believers in Christ who trusted in Him for their salvation won't be left behind.
